The United Arab Emirates intends to issue a new unified form for foreign residents that includes the issuance and renewal of residence and identity card services in one application, instead of the previous individual applications.
On Tuesday, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security announced that it would stop issuing residence vouchers to foreigners residing in the country, as of Monday, April 11, 2022.
According to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, the decision comes within the framework of developing the services provided to enhance the happiness of customers and replacing the Emirates ID card issued to the foreigner residing in the country as an alternative to prove his residence.
The authority explained that the cancellation decision came in implementation of the decision of the Council of Ministers to support the development of the services provided and to implement best practices and to achieve flexibility that aims to reduce the steps associated with the process of issuing and renewing the residence to be associated with the identity card in a new unified form that includes the issuance and renewal of the residence and identity card services in one application, instead of Previous individual requests stemming from the improvement and development processes related to the customers’ journey in embodiment of the UAE’s vision to provide world-class and high-quality services enhanced by technology.
The authority indicated that the authority’s smart application provides the ability to obtain the electronic copy of the identity card in support of the flexibility of use upon request, stressing that the new generation of the Emirates ID card issued to foreigner residing in the country to prove residency comes as an extension of the package of supporting decisions towards providing the best facilities to customers and raising the level of government services.
Al-Rashidi added that the entry into force of the decision will stop the service of receiving and handing over the resident’s passport, which was previously assigned to the installation of the residence voucher sticker, which will achieve a complete smart transformation of the authority’s residence services, which enhances customer satisfaction and adds qualitative flexibility in the issuance and renewal processes.
