Vladimir Putin and bin Salman discuss the situation in Syria and the global oil market

Today, Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed by phone with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman the situation in Syria and the situation of the global oil market.
The Kremlin said in a statement that a telephone conversation took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, in which the two sides praised the level of friendly relations between the two countries, according to the Russia Today website.
The Kremlin indicated that issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, with a focus on expanding trade and economic relations of mutual benefit, and the current situation in the global oil market.
The Kremlin noted that views were exchanged on the situation in Syria, taking into account the results of the Tehran summit of the heads of the guarantor states of the “Astana” process, and it was agreed to continue contacts at various levels.

joint coordination

The Kremlin indicated that the two presidents stressed the importance of more coordination within the “OPEC +”, noting that the countries of the organization continue to fulfill their obligations to maintain balance in the global oil market.

Tehran recently hosted a tripartite summit that brought together the presidents of Iran, Turkey and Russia, during which a number of files were discussed, foremost of which is the Syrian issue.

Astana meetings

The first summit meeting of the three countries sponsoring Syrian peace, the Astana talks, was held in the Russian city of Sochi on November 12, 2017.
Negotiations were held in the Kazakh city of Astana between representatives of the Syrian parties, in order to reach a ceasefire agreement and a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
