“The curve of the epidemic of the spread of the Corona virus had reached the stage of flattening since the beginning of the week” the Director of Readiness and Ambulance at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tawfiq Hassaba, announced that, and a decrease in the number of infections was noted in various regions, with the Ministry recording yesterday 177 new cases of the Corona virus, which raises the total number to 45,645 and the recovery of 90 cases. The total number of recorded cases increased to 27,307, and 7 deaths were recorded, bringing the total number to 2,644.
With regard to the presence of problems in providing oxygen in a number of hospitals, Hasaba stated that during the past ten days, 400 oxygen cylinders were distributed to hospitals that are likely to face a defect in securing the cylinders, stressing that things are fine so far and “providing medicine is the most important currently in the ministry.”
Hassaba said that so far, the demand for the anti-virus vaccine is still weak, stressing that the ministry is currently working on a plan to expand the health centers to become 970 centers, in addition to 200 mobile teams to provide vaccine service to ensure access to all those wishing to receive the vaccine and anywhere.
At this time, the Director of Communicable and Chronic Diseases in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Zuhair Al-Sahwi, said that the occupancy rate of hospitals with coronavirus patients has decreased in most governorates by between 70 to 75% due to the decrease in the number of infections, except for Suwayda governorate, which is still 100% occupied. .
Regarding the batch of the Chinese vaccine “Sinovac” that arrived in Syria the day before yesterday, the director of communicable and chronic diseases told “Al-Watan” that it will be distributed to all governorates without exception.
Al-Sahwi attributed the decrease in the number of infections to the desire to receive the vaccine, saying: “Although the demand for vaccinations is still little, it is a major reason for the decline in infection with the Corona virus,” explaining that even the recipients of the vaccination may be infected with Corona, but the infection is not severe.
The health data showed an escalation of the graph of the intensity of citizens receiving the vaccine, as a slight increase in the demand for vaccination was observed in centers and hospitals, but the turnout is still below expectations and work is underway at all levels to increase the number of recipients of vaccination against the virus.
