On Saturday, June 12, the Russian “Sputnik” news agency quoted a source in the Syrian army, saying that military reinforcements, which he described as huge, were sent to the Badia region in the east of the country.
According to the source, the Syrian army aims, by sending these reinforcements, to carry out a small-scale military operation in the coming hours targeting the armed organizations that originate from the “Al-Tanf” area, where the US military base is located, after monitoring unusual activity on the axes of the eastern Hama and Al-Rasafa valleys, west of Raqqa and Sukhna, east of Homs.
The source indicated that it is likely that this activity is carried out by members of the “ISIS” organization.
It is worth noting that sending these reinforcements was preceded by Russian air strikes that targeted ISIS sites and headquarters in the Ithriya area, located in the easternmost desert of Hama and in the vicinity of the Rusafa area in the countryside of Raqqa. According to “Sputnik”, these raids led to the destruction of 6 ISIS sites.
