The Israeli air force has destroyed a tower block in Gaza City housing the offices of the Associated Press and Al Jazeera in what has widely been decried as an attack on press freedom.
The strike led to the collapse of the 12-storey building, causing a strong gust of dust, and there was no immediate explanation for why the building was targeted.
The strike came hours after another Israeli strike on a refugee camp in Gaza City, killing at least 10 Palestinians, most of them children, in the bloodiest blow in the current conflict.
The agency noted that the escalating violence in the region raised fears of a new Palestinian uprising, as there had been no peace talks for years.
On Saturday, the Palestinians will commemorate the Nakba, when the occupied state of Israel was established in 1948.
